To get such a diverse range of artists together has made this project a massive challenge, but I feel that it will lead to many opportunities in future. Wendy Williams. Wirral

As artists, it is important to not only exhibit nationally but Internationally in order to broaden our creative horizons and experience. Jacqueline Kerr. Liverpool

It is an exciting opportunity for me!! I live in a rural part of America hours from any major city. For me this is an opportunity to connect with a much larger art community and have my work seen by people it would never ordinarily come into contact with. I have exhibited extensively in the region in which I live, and had some small opportunities to exhibit in Europe. I am hoping of course that this will open the doors to new people and spaces interested in my work. Debra Eck. USA

“What attracted me to this project was that somewhere so seemingly unattractive as Beeston in South Leeds, where Basement Arts Project is based, could possibly muster up the courage to organise a travelling exhibition to the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm!. That is very honourable and it deserved to be taken seriously. This is a very exciting opportunity for me to be part of this!” Phill Hopkins. Leeds

When my proposal was accepted by SCIBASE I couldn’t believe my luck! Having my work shown on an international platform is a fantastic opportunity to get it noticed by the visitors of SUPERMARKET, hopefully other artists, groups and galleries from around the world. I am a paper installation artist, this limits what I can usually present at Art Fairs and I often opt to show other areas of my practice. So I am very excited to be able to exhibit an installation piece with SCIBASE and can’t wait to find out what responses it gets. Julie Dodd. Wirral

I am very happy for my work going to the Stockholm Independent Art Fair with SCI/Basement Arts. I had a very good experience of showing my work at a previous exhibition with Basement Arts Project in Leeds last year - The quality both of their curation and of the good relationships they fostered with the exhibiting artists made me interested in working with them again. Through Basement Arts Project I became aware of the SCI collective in Liverpool and became interested in their work. Both SCI and Basement Arts have a very hands on, 'can-do' , attitude by making projects happen themselves, often on a shoe string As an artist who curates and organises many of my own projects, I am attracted to this diy ethos, and feel inspired and energised by working with collectives such as SCI and Basement Arts.
I'm very pleased my work is being shown at Stockholm Independent Art Fair because as well as it being a great opportunity to show my work internationally, it is a Fair which is run by and for artist-run galleries and other artists' initiatives, in which the focus is on supporting artists rather than sales. I am really delighted to be a part of it. Jean McEwan. Haworth, West Yorkshire
